Brissie to Manila

Well no streamers etc. at Brissie--- a most un-salubrious departure. Thanks to Byron we made the right terminal - the grain terminal. Lovely that Alisha could also see us on our way. Alisha will already be in Kelowna. Gross confusion reigned at the grain terminal. Procedures were NOT smooth but we just went with the flow.

Met our table companions and they live at Bardon in those flash apartments up near Stuartholme. We dine each evening in the Oriental Restaurant - not oriental at all -it is international. The food is absolutely FABULOUS!!!!!The Oriental name tag comes from the original P.& O. which is Pacific and Orient. All our stewards are from Mumbai or Goa. Should add they are superb and very well-trained.

After dinner every night there is some sort of a show in the "Theatre Royal" - great entertainment area that seats 650.we listened to Colin "Fingers" Henry - a light-hearted piano/cabaret appearance interspersed with the BEST jokes.finished his show by playing the "Warsaw Concerto" Sunday evening attended the Captain's cocktail Party and then ent off again to enjoy a stand -up comedian called Adrian Walsh - nearly bust a gut laughing. On the way home along the promanadepopped in to the "Harlequin" venue and joined in a few dances -quickstep, jive, foxtrot and watched a couple of sequence dances that we had never heard of.

Monday turned out a cloudy , overcast day however we ventured forth and hired a buggy for a couple of hours and chugged our way around Hamilton Island.

The entertainment here is varied and high class. After the show the other evening we wandered up to the "Pacific Lounge" and here we listened to a classical pianist . Susan you would have loved it!!!he started with Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" then he played Debussy's "Lisle Joyeuse" - then Chopin's "Nocturne" to finish off he played a piece called "Cat and the Mouse" by an American composer called Copland.
Iris and Beryl

Iris and Beryl

Enid was so excited last evening as we watched a great show by 2 Aussies. The artists would you believe were Aubrey Biggs and his mate. Aubrey played in the band with John Sues in "The Firefly's" Enid had a great chat with him and wants to be remembered to him.
